Our Mission

HomeAutoCentral was built to combat the noise in the smart home industry. We do not care about the latest gimmicks. We care about stability, privacy, and local control.

The Lab Standard

Every device has to earn its place in a live setup before it gets recommended — run on a real hub in a real home, not judged from a spec sheet. We stress-test Zigbee and Z-Wave meshes, watch how gear behaves under load, and check "local-only" claims the honest way: by pulling the internet and seeing what still works.

Editorial Integrity

We purchase most of our review units. If a manufacturer sends us a unit, it gets no special treatment. We accept no payments for positive reviews. Period.

How We Score

9+

The Gold Standard

Best in class. Flawless local control, excellent build quality, and reliable software. A "Buy Now" recommendation.

8

Great Choice

Solid performance with minor quirks. Usually the best value for money option for most users.

6

Compromised

Functional but flawed. Could be cloud-dependent, have poor battery life, or confusing UI. Proceed with caution.

Kenny runs a local-first Home Assistant setup at home in Sweden — Zigbee, Z-Wave, and Matter-over-Thread on a self-hosted hub, with motion and presence sensors, in-wall relays, and local-recording cameras instead of a pile of cloud apps. The same rule engine that runs the lights also drives the grow lights, the sauna pre-heat, and the curing chamber out in the workshop.

He publishes HomeAutoCentral as part of a network of niche sites, each rooted in one of his own hands-on hobbies. The lens here stays the same on every topic: a smart home is presence, state, and automations that keep working when the internet doesn't — not a shelf of app-controlled gadgets.
